ELIGIBILITY: Any public or private entity, including an Indian tribe or tribal organization (as defined at 25 U.S.C. 450b), is eligible to apply for Federal funding under this announcement. Community-based organizations, including faith-based organizations are eligible to apply. An eligible applicant must have both direct fiduciary and administrative responsibility over the project.

SUMMARY:   The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) announces the availability of funds for a new cooperative agreement entitled Supporting Healthy Start Performance Project (SHSPP).  This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) seeks to administer a cooperative agreement that will assist in strengthening the implementation of Healthy Start (HS) activities by providing capacity building assistance (CBA), as defined in the Background section below, including ongoing technical assistance, training and education to Healthy Start grantees in the implementation of the program's five approaches to reduce disparities in infant mortality and adverse perinatal outcomes.  The SHSPP will ensure effectiveness and efficiency in grantee implementation of components of the Healthy Start models, and by ensuring uniformity and credibility in implementation of the Healthy Start program activities.  The five approaches are: 1) improving women's health, 2) promoting quality services, 3) strengthening family resilience, 4) achieving collective impact, and 5) increasing accountability through quality improvement, performance monitoring, and evaluation.

Let's Move! Salad Bars to Schools


 
 
 
Let's Move Salad Bars to Schools is a comprehensive grassroots public health effort to mobilize and engage stakeholders at the local, state and national level to support salad bars in schools. Any K-12 school district participating in the National School Lunch Program is eligible to apply to receive a salad bar for their school. Applications accepted on a rolling basis.

Summary:   This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits applications for a single Coordinating Center to support novel data acquisition strategies, data harmonization, analysis and dissemination activities on emerging and current drug abuse trends across selected communities. The Coordinating Center will:

(1) establish and develop key community-level indicators for monitoring drug abuse trends and early identification of new synthetic drugs and emerging issues including establishing harmonization of indicators and of presentation and analysis of indicators across the selected communities; (2) identify and develop novel sources of data including data available via the Internet and obtain relevant data from various sources; (3) conduct cross-site data analyses from the harmonized Coordinating Center data; (4) develop and execute a dissemination and publication plan of results and findings from the Coordinating Center data, including development and maintenance of a website for disseminating data and findings;
(5) establish an Early Warning Network composed of local experts on drug abuse data from the selected communities, as well as NIDA-supported community-based researchers, to assist in the ongoing monitoring and interpretation of data and (6) provide operational, administrative and logistical support for the Coordinating Center data harmonization and dissemination initiative.

Eligibility: The following types of entities are eligible applicants: a. A 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization; b. A local or state public agency; c. A for-profit organization (for-profit firms are eligible, however, while they are allowed to cover their direct and indirect costs, they are not allowed to earn a profit from the project, and they are not eligible to receive EPA funding); d. A nationally recognized and accredited University or College; or e. Any combination of the aforementioned entities as a Capacity Building Team to combine their skills and offer a coordinated program. A Capacity Building Team must designate a lead applicant to act as the fiscal agent for the grant.

Summary: This NOFA is part of a cross-agency collaboration between HUD, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), known as the Partnership for Sustainable Communities. The Capacity Building for Sustainable Communities Program (Program), through this NOFA, will identify consortia comprised of intermediary organizations that can provide capacity building support for communities engaged in planning efforts that support community involvement and integrate economic and workforce development, housing, land use, land cleanup and preparation for reuse, transportation, and infrastructure investments. The grantee(s) selected will be expected to deliver capacity building support to communities across the United States.
